Another plus, the ingredients are simple and straightforward: shards of Calabrian chili skin and seeds, basil, sunflower, and olive oil. I had a hard time finding Calabrian chile paste so I used some chipotles in adobo instead and worked nicely. Unlike other store-bought salsas that make your mouth pucker from the vinegar, this sauce underwent a fermentation process that leaves behind a spicy umami flavor. I loved this recipe! Super easy and for sure a crowd pleaser. The bomba sauce is definitely worth seeking out.
